Dear Diary,

I woke up today with the general feeling that everything will be OK. Nothing has changed, but I guess, for now, I’m cool with that because I feel like it will change. I don’t know if it was church or the coffee. Either way, it’s a relief.

I ran into Janice in Target. She asked me whose turn it was to host the kid-sit, and I told her I wasn’t keeping track because I would no longer be participating. I think it may have come out a little harsher than I intended it to because she looked visibly shocked for a full five seconds before trying to convince me to not leave the group. A few months ago, I would have made excuses for my decision, but last night, I just told her trying to change my mind was a waste of time.

I wasn’t trying to be rude to her, but the more she talked, the more I wondered how we ever became friends. Being members of the same church for so long and having children close in age, I guess we gravitated to each other, but I realized that outside of those circumstances, I would never have aligned myself with her. This is deeper than her kid giving my kids the plague too. I realized I just don’t like her . . . like, in general, as a person.
